Commonwealth Business Council The Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) is appointing a Director General in late 2011 to take over from its founding Director General, Dr Mohan Kaul. The CBC was formed in 1997 at the Edinburgh Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). Its aim is to utilise the global network of the Commonwealth more effectively for the promotion of global trade and investment for shared prosperity. The CBC acts as a bridge between business and government, between developed and emerging markets and between large and small businesses, concentrating efforts on specific areas: Enhancing Trade and Investment Flows, Promoting a good Environment for Business and Investment, Promoting Good Governance and Facilitating PPPs. The CBC has become a centre of excellence, well equipped to deliver cutting edge programmes for the Commonwealth's global agenda. Since 1997, Commonwealth trade has increased from USD2 trillion to USD4.5 trillion and investment flows have reached over USD280 billion.
