The "best president ever" is how San-dro, a flower-seller in Sao Paulo, describes Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Who will he vote for in the presidential election on October 3rd? "Dilma, for sure." Why? A shrug and a laugh: "Continuity. And because Lula chose her." His reasoning is echoed across Brazil, especially among the rural poor and migrants to the big cities. The economy is growing strongly. Jobs are being created, and incomes are rising. The man who presided over this is barred by the constitution from running for a third term.
