Discussions about the generosity of welfare systems often focus on unemployment benefits. But according tc the oecd, most of its mainly rich member countries spend more on disability and sickness benefits than they do on compensating the jobless. Taken togethe disability and sick pay account for nearly quarter of social-welfare expenditure in Norway, which spends more than 24 time: as much on these payments as it does on unemploymentinsurance.
