摘要

Aliman szabadi was an awestruck ten-year-old when he first saw a Zeppelin airship floating over Csepel island on the Danube in 1931. The sight of it left him with an enduring fascination with how things work and a passion for elegant, functional design. Mr Szabadi combined his two enthusiasms at college, where he studied industrial draughtsmanship. He drew film posters, painted theatre scenery and was drafted into the Hungarian navy for three years. Demobbed in 1953, he returned home to Vac, a small town on the Danube 40km (25 miles) north of Budapest.
