Factory workers in Vietnam have an extra reason to celebrate Tet, the lunar new year holiday that begins this weekend. Their government recently decided to raise the minimum wage in foreign-owned factories by up to 40%, starting on February 1st. Pay packets in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minn City will now start at $45 a month, the first mandated rise in several years. Experienced workers can expect an extra 7% increase on top of that.
