EVERY so often,unpopular luslim regimes on the periphery of the Palestine conflict find it expedient to propose eliminating the Zionist entity.Since his election last year,Mah-moud Ahmadinejad,Iran's president and chief holocaust denier,has become a leading exponent of this familiar ruse.His promise last week that Israel would soon be wiped from the pages of history in accordance with the prophecy of the late Ayatollah Khomeini was therefore neither especially new nor-till Iran acquires nuclear weapons-especially frightening.And,of course,even with a bomb,even Mr Ahmadinejad might think twice about launching a nuclear attack that could lead to Iran's own swift destruction.
