"Hello! Great to see you again!" Joe Donnelly, the Democratic candidate for Indiana's second district, has never set eyes on your correspondent before. But when your eyes are bleary with exhaustion, one face looks much like another. Mr Donnelly has spent months pumping hands, wolfing soggy dinners with gusto and begging strangers to let him serve them in the House of Representatives. Now, at a fundraiser at a smalltown golf club, he is preparing to recycle his stump speech once again.
