Instead, it booked a trendy nightclub and threw a party, hoping that word of mouth would encourage young talent to come forward. Another company, located in the wet north-eastern corner of France, decided that it could lure the skilled workers it needed away from sun-drenched Italy and beyond only by stressing that its excellent indoor sports facilities would be a way of keeping out of the rain.
