When it comes to the components in the upper and lower heads of a Wire EDM, there is only one Commandment that you need to abide by: "Cleanliness is next to Godliness." Regular (as in weekly) cleaning and maintenance is a must if you expect the machine to thread reliably and cut accurately. There is only one practical method for keeping critical upper and lower head components such as power feeds, guides, and pre-guides clean: the ultrasonic cleaner.
