Here in the Tool Room at Nichols Portland we build tools to make powdered metal gerotors. Many of these tools have face details to form chamfers, burr relief and other features on the parts. These features are machined onto the tool using our Mitsubishi VX10 sinker. Many features of these shallow face details are difficult to accurately measure in the machine. We had an old bore scope that we adapted to our machine, and it worked but was difficult to get good lighting and usually required opening the door of the machine to use it. Most of the time we would need to remove the tool to inspect it on our Quadra Check. If the part was out of spec we would need to set it back up and make an adjustment.
