Reduced-order modeling approach for wind energy conversion systems based on the doubly-fed induction generator

摘要

This work proposes a simplified model for the representation of positive-sequence and negative-sequence components in wind energy conversion systems (WECSs) based on the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG). A thorough mathematical analysis is presented so that it is possible to derive an accurate model that can be used in time-domain simulations, aiming to reduce both complexity and computational burden. The results are also extensively compared with those obtained from a small-scale experimental prototype to validate the theoretical assumptions. It is effectively shown that the behavior of the stator currents is properly represented by the model when either unbalanced voltages or asymmetrical voltage sags come to occur in the WECS. It is also reasonable to state that the introduced approach is particularly useful for distinct studies involving the assessment of low voltage ride-through (LVRT) techniques.
