摘要

The International Symposium on Lightning Protection (SIPDA) is a biannual event whose aim is to allow lightning scientists and engineers to present and discuss recent, state-of-the-art developments in a wide range of topics including modeling, measurement techniques, grounding, and lightning protection. The symposium, which was first held in 1988, has become one of the most important forums for the exchange of information on the latest advances in lightning protection and lightning physics. This Special Issue contains 15 high-quality, particularly interesting papers selected among those presented at Ⅻ SIPDA, which was held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, from 7th to 11th of October, 2013. Ⅻ SIPDA was organized into 12 technical sessions and 6 invited lectures that covered a large spectrum of topics, including lightning protection, grounding, measurement techniques, return stroke modeling, and lightning location.
