摘要

This paper proposes a static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) based on cascaded H-bridge inverter, which consists of six H-bridge modules connected in series for each phase. A detail simulation model with EMTP codes was developed to verify the operation of proposed SSSC, assuming that the SSSC is inserted in the 154 kV transmission line of one-machine-infinite-bus power system. In order to confirm the feasibility of hardware implementation, a scaled prototype was built and tested including the transmission line and the generator. The proposed SSSC can be directly inserted in the transmission line without coupling transformers, and has flexibility in expanding the operation voltage by increasing the number of H-bridge modules.
