The semiconductor industry proved its strength in 2010, outperforming many other segments and recording significant revenue growth estimated at 30 to 35%. But booming demand in many cases met supply shortages as companies reset inventories during the economic aftermath of 2009. Roy Vallee, Avnet Inc's chief executive officer and chairman, spoke to EDN about the closing year and the year ahead from his standpoint as an expert on the electronics supply chain. Excerpts of that discussion follow.
