Power management company Eaton has announced the addition of support for parallel operation of its single-phase, energy efficient 9PX UPSs in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). IT and facility managers can now power more equipment in their computer rooms, small data centres, industrial and medical applications by operating two 9PX units in parallel, or they can add redundancy to their system by installing a second UPS. It is also possible to configure two parallel connected 9PX units so that they automatically switch between redundancy and power increase modes, depending on the load level. Parallel configured 9PX UPSs use Eaton's Hot Sync technology, which allows them to operate in parallel without the need for inter-unit communications. This eliminates the single point of failure inherent in traditional parallel configurations based on master-slave technology.
