Substation automation is today's emerging technology. This article provides an efficient means for display and monitoring of substation activities during automation. Several features like fault generation, fault restoration and sequencing can be achieved by this model. In this work a 220KV Single Line Diagram (SLD) in Visual basic (VB) has been developed. The software developed interacts with Excel database to display data for monitoring purpose. Database has been generated in ETAP by performing load flow analysis and short-circuit analysis which is then exported back to Excel.
