摘要

In this paper, switched reluctance motor (SRM) performance in continuous-current operation mode is investigated. Using Continuous Current Method, which is feasible through commutation angle control, the constant power region for SRM is extended. Although, it can be achieved by reducing the number of turns in phase winding, the torque per current at low speeds will be compromised. Therefore, in applications in which the high torque per current at low speeds, and rated power at high speeds, are required, the continuous current method is the best solution. Besides, for these applications, SRM is designed with high number of turns in phase winding. In order to simulate the proposed method, a 4.5 kW SRM is modeled using finite element analysis. The verified model is used to evaluate the SRM performance in continuous-current operation mode.
