摘要

The members of the 'ELECTROMOTION' Editorial Board grieve the death of their colleague and friend, Professor Alfio Consoli, who passed away on 7th July 2012 after a long battle against cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife Maria-Grazia. Alfio Consoli was born in Catania, Italy, in 1949. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino, Italy. After a short period at Fiat R&D Centre in Torino, he joined the University of Catania, where he became Professor of Electrical Engineering, in 1986, mainly teaching electric machines and power electronics. In 1987, he established the PhD course on Electrical Engineering and, later, on Energy both at the University of Catania. He was the author of more than 300 technical papers, as a result of over thirty years of research activity in the areas of energy conversion, electric drives, robotics and power electronics. He was involved in industry cooperation, as well as in many national and international research projects and people exchanging programs among European Community.
