Takahashi direct torque control (DTC) strategy presents a high dynamic performance. However, these are compromised by a decrease of the stator flux at low speed operation leading to the demagnetization phenomenon. The paper is devoted to the implementation of an approach to eradicate the demagnetization phenomenon penalizing the Takahashi DTC strategy. The basis and the limitations of the Takahashi DTC strategy are first recalled. Then, the demagnetization phenomenon and the stator-resistance mis identification problem, affecting the accuracy of the stator-flux estimator, are depicted. The DTC strategy dedicated to eradicate the demagnetization problem is then developed. A comparison between the two DTC strategies is done considering both simulation and experiment.
