TDK-Lambda's UK operation started out as Coutant Electronics in 1959, before establishing its production facility in llfracombe, North Devon in 1966, initially occupying a 500m~2 building. Coutant went through a number of changes in ownership, including merging with US power supply manufacturer, Lambda Electronics, before eventually being acquired by TDK to become TDK-Lambda in 2005. Throughout this period, the llfracombe site in the South West of England has been an important part of the business's European and global operations.
