Reserve Bank of India is in the process of putting in place measures to make both credit cards and debit cards safer to shop with. Currently, the total industry loss in stolen and counterfeit card fraud is Rs 13 crore. The guidelines issued in 2011 have a clear roadmap for moving towards more secure ways of credit/debit card transactions, ultimately through Aadhar-based biometric authentication, according to RBI.
