In many industrial applications, gentle and slow running-up Performance of the driving 3-phase induction-motor is necessary to avoid damage of the commodity to be manufactured. This purpose necessitates decrease of the starting-torque and smooth starting-up of the motor. To this end, the paper describes a method which boils down to inserting a resistance or a reactor of appropriate ratings in one line feeding the 3-phase motor.
