The tools for transformer monitoring have been developed in search for empirical correlation between electrical and/or thermical anomalies and a measurable formation of fault gases. The results arisen by analytical laboratory investigations are summarized in international standards. The recommendations of the Deutsche Verbundgesellschaft e.V. to the transformer monitoring are taken to occasion to evaluate these special problems critically and to deduce development demands. The central part of these recommendations should be the online-use of the tools mentioned above. At first a definition of an independent generic term »gas analytical transformer diagnostics« is given and the physicochemical basics of the gas household neglected so far are described. The capabilities of the laboratory measurements and the stage of development of the online-monitoring are shown. At last the advantages of a comprehensive conception concerning the transformer gases are set out.%Über Jahrzehnte sind durch die laboranalytische Suche nach empirischen Zusammenhängen zwischen elektrischen und/oder thermischen Anomalien und meßbarer Zersetzungsgasbildung in internationale Normen gefaßte Hilfsmittel zur gasanalytischen Transformatorendiagnostik entstanden. Der Autor nimmt die Empfehlungen der Deutschen Verbundgesellschaft e.V. zum Transformatorenmonitoring, deren zentraler Bestandteil die Online-Anwendung dieser Hilfsmittel sein soll, zum Anlaß, diese spezielle Problematik einer kritischen Wertung zu unterziehen und daraus Entwicklungsforderungen abzuleiten.
