In a restructured environment of an open market the former vertically integrated utilities are divided into their competence centres for generation (GenCo), transmission (TransCo) and distribution (DisCo). Also new market participants will appear. Independent power marketers buy energy from GenCos or IPPs (independent power producers) and sell it again. Load aggregators will take care of the interests of small consumers. The same is valid for small producers. To complete the model a power exchange is established. The market participants have to fulfill a lot of new tasks which cause the employment of new IT structures and software applications for the best support.
