On May 19, Mitsubishi Electric Corp. announced it has installed five large-capacity elevators at Umeda Hankyu Building's new office area, which opened on May 6 in Osaka. Among the largest capacity passenger elevatorsrnin Japan, each can carry up to 80 passengers (5,250 kilograms). The interior of each car is 3.4 meters wide, 2.8 meters long and 2.6 meters high, with a floor space of 9.52 square meters. The cars are equipped with glassrnwindows allowing passengers to view outside. The company installed a total of 25 elevators in the building.
