There is no doubt that the increasing usage of perma nent-magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) in lifts is one of the most significant innovations of the last decade. Through developments in inverter technology and lower costs for permanent-magnet materials, gearless systems with PMSMs now constitute an alternative to traditional geared induction-motor-driven lift machines.
