Hitachi America, Ltd. recently announced the release of its RCU Series of regenerative converter units. The series offers a "green" alternative to traditional dynamic-braking (DB) systems. Instead of wasting regenerative energy as heat, the products in this series reclaim that energy, converting it into three-phase AC power. The energy is recycled through the AC line, resulting in increased energy efficiency and reduced energy consumption. The amount of energy reclaimed can provide a measurable return on investment and short payback cycle for the cost of the product.
