摘要

The growth of cities contributes to the building of skyscrapers in greater number and height, which in turn promotes the increase of elevators installed in buildings. The year 2003 saw an increase of 81,332 registered new installations as compared to the number of them in 2002. The total number of installations in use by the end of the year was 427,339. In 2004, 99,930 new installations were registered, increasing the total number of installations in use to 527,329 and producing a record-high growth rate of 23.38% (see charts).
