Local news reports claim that Czech investment fund PPF is gearingrnup to acquire 49% of Slovak Telekom. PPF recently agreed tornacquire Telefónica's operations in the Czech Republic, including itsrninvestment in mobile operator O2 Slovakia, and would thereforernbe interested in acquiring Slovakia's incumbent fixed-line businessrnin order to become a converged services provider. BMI believesrnthat a converged services strategy would benefit O2 Slovakia butrnwe doubt PPF could negotiate the purchase of the incumbent as itrnwould combine the country's two largest mobile providers.
