Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technologiesn(MCIT) plans to launch a project for the rollout of a nationwidenhigh-speed fibre network connecting all major settlementsnin the country, according to local press reports. The project is setnto last three years to 2015 and use funds from the State Oil Fundnof Azerbaijan (SOFAZ). BMI expects the investment, which willnprovide a high-quality backbone infrastructure, to be a platform fornincreases in broadband penetration over the medium term and widerndevelopment of the ICT sector.
