ER-Telecom has reportedly secured regulatory approval to acquirenAKADO Telecom in a deal estimated at US$1.1bn, includingnUS$490mn in debt. The move, which had been anticipated for somentime, would consolidate ER-Telecom's position as a key alternativenplayer in Russia's fragmented broadband and TV markets but,nmore significantly to BMI, marks its first step away from organicnexpansion to a strategy that seemingly includes the acquisition ofnexisting players.
