Despite the government's commitment, we believe private investment will be key for Uzbekistan to implement its digital strategy, but risks remain for private investors. In late 2020, Uzbekistan published its Digital Uzbekistan 2030 strategy, outlining the goals the country aims to achieve to accelerate its digital readiness. Improved digital infrastructure and the adoption of digital solutions across industries will support Uzbekistan in its efforts to diversify its economy away from commodity exports. Despite the government's commitment, we are of the view that attracting private investment will be vital to a successful implementation of the strategy. However, risks remain for private investors, especially in relation to corruption and cybersecurity.
