The Latest: Many US states and EU member-states are looking to introduce their own specific rules when it comes to tech regulation, for very different reasons. Implications: Through regionalisation, we have already highlighted that the internet is becoming less global and more regional and national, with a greater focus on sovereignty. But greater fragmentation at the sub-national or sub-regional level will increase costs for companies as they have to comply with different rules, losing some of the scale they have long been accustomed to.
