The Latest: Lumen Technologies has agreed to sell selected assets in Latin America toStonepeak Infrastructure Partners for USD2.7bn. Lumen is also reportedly preparing tooffload its US consumer broadband business for USD5bn, but it is enhancing its digitalinfrastructure assets in Europe.Implications: Asset sales continue to provide Lumen with its most effective means ofboth reducing its net debt burden and improving its net debt:adjusted EBITDA leverageratio to a more acceptable 2.75x to 3.25x. Despite its size (9x 2020 EBITDA, according toLumen), the Latin America asset sale is likely to have only a modest impact on Lumen'sleverage ratio, meaning it must look to sell more assets.
