摘要

On May 21, 2008, President Bush signed into law the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (GINA), which prohibits discrimination on the basis of an individual's genetic information in employment and insurance, mandates certain protections of genetic information, and creates a private cause of action against employers for genetic discrimination. GINA covers private and government employers, employment agencies, labor unions, group health plans, plan sponsors, health-insurance issuers, and Medicare supplemental-policy issuers.
