The pending settlement of a massive class action suit against six of the nation's largest water heater manufacturers could end up costing the companies tens of millions of dollars. The proposed settlement, now before a federal court, directs the companies to pay for repairs on millions of faulty water heaters sold between August 1993 and October 1996.
