The American Water Heater Company (Johnson City, Tennessee) has redesigned the combustion chambers on its Flame Guard gas-fired water heaters to provide an important new measure of safety against flammable vapor fires. With the adoption of the Flame Guard Safety System, American Water Heater becomes the first US manufacturer to meet its commitment to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to develop safer water heaters.
