It gives me great personal pleasure to see this issue dedicated to celebrating the achievements of our friend and colleague Professor Subrata Mukherjee of the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University.rnSubrata is without doubt one of the most outstanding scientists in the field of Boundary Elements. His numerous publications, including books as well as papers in highly regarded journals reflect high quality and originality of thought. Subrata's output is characterised by the care and craftsmanship which are the trademarks of an outstanding scientist.rnHe has made important contributions in a wide range of topics, each of them highly original and evidencing his deep understanding of the underlying theory.
