摘要

The hydrogeological parameters of aquifers are estimated from head observations by a calibration procedure. The inverse problem is formulated as a maximum likelihood estimation. A quasi-Newton method (BFGS scheme) is used to solve an unconstrained nonlinear optimization problem. the numerical method employed for the solution of the direct problem is the dual reciprocity boundary element method (DRBEM). Problems of steady and unsteady confined aquifers are solved. Numerical results demonstrate that this automatic calibration procedure is effective.
