摘要

You wouldn't dream of leaving your business premises unprotected, would you? You probably have a burglar alarm and maybe even CCTV to deter would-be thieves. But what about your computer systems? Are you sufficiently prepared not only to deal with threats but also to cope with the consequences of a successful attack? There are many phrases that relate to computer-enabled crime - 'cyber crime', 'hi-tech crime', 'computer crime', 'e-crime' - but it can be described in two generic forms: 1. 'New crimes, new tools' - crimes committed against computers and IT networks which present new opportunities to criminals and new challenges to businesses; for example, hacking and viruses, denial of service attacks and spoof websites. 2. 'Old crimes, new tools' - traditional crimes supported by the use of the Internet and high technology such as fraud, blackmail and extortion, paedophilia and pornography, identity theft and cyber stalking.
