With Spring on the not-too-distant horizon, it is heartening to see that the green shoots of economic recovery in general and of the UK engineering sector in particular are being reported at an increasing rate. Tentative optimism seems to be the order of the day, as the casters of industrial runes and readers of economic entrails offer their predictions for the year ahead. The EEF says that it expects the engineering industry to rebound as demand increases in export markets, led by the electronics and automotive sectors, although business conditions will still be difficult.
