This section begins with a trial assembly. Look down onto the smokebox tubeplate, rotating it so that one of the three threaded bushes in the tubeplate lies midway between the two boiler barrel bushes. Then push the cartridge into the boiler shell, with the firebox end of the shell resting on a flat surface until the lower tubeplate stay nut comes to rest on the flat surface in line with the boiler barrel. With a straight edge, check to see that now the cartridge is inserted that all the lower stay nuts are at the same level as the end face of the boiler barrel. Withdraw the cartridge ready for soldering.
