The prototype 'Dougal' at Welshpool has relatively simple hand-operated brakes which act on all four wheels but it also has a vacuum ejector and a brake valve which were fitted in preservation to enable it to haul vacuum-fitted trains. Like the full-size prototype, it was my intention to model both braking systems and I began with the original hand brakes.
