Another source of aggravation was the non-adjustable, adjustable blade guide. There were two things that needed attending to here; one was the build up of paint in the slot of the bandsaw frame that guides the adjuster and using a flat scraper all of this was removed back to the bare metal. After fitting the guide back into the now modified slot it was still not that easy to make adjustments. So taking the pressed steel guide off again and holding an engineers square against the base of the channel with the inner edge of the blade against the channel upstands, it was soon obvious the upstands were more like a 'W than a 'U', Trying to squash this channel in the bench vice would result in distorting the currently flat base of the channel due to the elongated slot that allowed for the guides' adjustment.
