摘要

The Marangoni-Benard problem is studied for binary mixtures presenting a Soret effect, in the region of parameters for which linear stability analysis predicts oscillatory onset. Weakly nonlinear regimes of this Hopf bifurcation are investigated (Ginzburg-Landau analysis). Depending on governing parameters, various wave patterns are predicted. Two-dimensional waves may develop either as standing waves, or travelling waves, though they are generally unstable to 3D disturbances.
