摘要

Benefits and disadvantages of chemical engineering approach and computational fluid dynamics concerning design and scale-up of contactors are firstly presented. With the example of discs and doughnuts extraction pulsed columns, the coupling of these two approaches is proposed. The parameters of the plug flow with axial dispersion models describing the hydrodynamic of the phases in the chemical engineering approach are derived from numerical simulations of the flow within the column.
