A wide variety of stakeholders - including industry, environmentalists, state regulators and members of Congress - began voicing their support and concerns about EPA's landmark greenhouse gas (GHG) standards for existing power plants during a series of high-profile public hearings that kicked off July 29 in three cities. EPA expected to hear from 1,600 people during July 29-30 hearings in Atlanta, Denver, Washington, DC, as well as a July 31-Aug. 1 hearing in Pittsburgh. And though the public still has a chance to offer written comments on the proposal through Oct. 16, views from the public hearings provide an early preview of some of the comments EPA will receive.
