EPA is gearing up to propose revisions to its financial assurance requirements for generators of hazardous waste in response to concerns that they may not be adequate to ensure bankrupt companies in not leave behind a legacy of contamination. The agency on Nov.20 sent the potential revisions to its Resource Conservation & Recovery Act (RCRA) Subtitle C financial test to the White House Office of Management & Budget (OMB) for interagency review,according to OMB's Web site. Following the review,EPA is expected to propose and seek comment on the revisions in the Federal Register.
