摘要

Charlie Auer, who led EPA efforts to develop the agency's voluntary chemical testing program known as the Chemical Assessment and Management Program (ChAMP),is retiring from the agency in January, raising questions about the future of the program and concern from industry officials. Industry and other proponents of voluntary chemical management efforts were looking to high-ranking agency staff, like Auer,to keep ChAMP running through the presidential transition and into the Obama administration.Industry is eager to show results from ChAMP in the hopes that it will dissuade or reduce the reforms that activists and some congressional Democrats are trying to make to the country's 30-year-old Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
