The Trump administration is withdrawing a 2013 rule that aimed to protect a population of greater sage-grouse in California and Nevada because the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service no longer believes the threats to the bird there are significant.The move is listed in a Federal Register notice scheduled for publication Tuesday. It affirms an Obama administration decision in 2015 to withdraw the proposed Endangered Species Act protections for the genetically distinct population of greater sage-grouse that occurs only in a small area of the two states.
